Novemberd and Movember – Time to man up!

Have you noticed that in November there are many men with beards and moustaches?
In November we both celebrate Novembeard, where I grow my beard and Movember where the participants grow their mustache. Do you ever wonder the reason?

Where it was born? Novembeard and Movember were founded in Australia in 1999
to raise awareness about awareness for men’s health issues and male depression.

The rules are simple. On November 1st, each man starts off with a clean shaven face and decides on what they are going to grow – a beard or a moustache.

From there one, they can’t shave but they can trim and groom. There are a number of organizations as well as individuals who throw fundraisers and gather sponsorships to raise money for research and awareness for men’s health issues.

We’d like to introduce an important reality: the Movember Foundation, the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, year round. we have one goal: to stop men dying too young.

They are the leading charity changing the face of men’s health. They’re addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.

They know what works for men, and how to find and fund the most innovative research to have both a global and local impact. They’re independent of government funding, so we can challenge the status quo and invest quicker in what works. In 15 years they have funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world.

By 2030 they will reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%.
