Care and maintenance of shaving brushes

First Use

Regardless of the brush you have chosen, for the first use, or for use following a long period of pause, it is suggested to let the brush soak for approximately 12 hours to allow the bristles to hydrate. This process will not only give the flexibility needed to the bristles, but will also ensuring the knot to further lock in the bristles, which in turn will prevent the loss of hair.
During the first month it is recommended to let the brush soak for about 10 minutes before each use.

For the GOLD model, being the natural pig bristle untreated, it is recommended to add shaving soap to the water used for soaking. This will soften the strong odour generated by the new bristle.
After about 10 uses you will have a steady easing of smell and you will notice that split ends will be formed on the bristles, they are essential for the absorption of shaving soap and the reached softness, with remarkable pleasure for the user’s face.

Maintenance

The brush’s enemies are mainly limestone and soap residue.
The handle ATTO PRIMO was made of aluminium machine from solid and, via an oxidation process, has been made more resistant to the effects of minerals present in the water, as well as agents present in shaving soaps.
The bristle, although of excellent quality, needs to be defended from limestone and soap, as both agents stiffen the bristle making it less effective as well as more fragile.
After each use, the brush must be rinsed and dried – possibly with a hair dryer or at least buffered with a towel. After this, the brush must be stored back in the perforated Plexiglas pack where it will continue to breathe allowing the remaining moisture to evaporate.

Last, every 6 months it strongly suggested to apply, without water, a shaving or hair balm over the entire bristle and massage until fully absorbed. Rinse well and then dry in the same manner as above described.
